LEI Provider Price Study 2026: UK Registration and Renewal

The five GBP offers we could compare

The comparison below is for one ordinary UK company buying one LEI with standard processing. We collected public prices on 17–18 September 2026 and checked the five GBP offers on 18 September. No applications, paid tests or requests for private quotes were made.

These are advertised amounts, with tax and fee qualifications kept beside them. A provider's promise of fast delivery is not a result we tested. If you need the background on what the fee covers, start with our general LEI cost guide.

The five advertised registration amounts range from £42 to £50. The median, the middle value after sorting them, is £49. This describes this small set of advertised offers, not a UK market average or an all-in price ranking.

Four providers also published a usable standalone renewal amount. In those four matched pairs, three quoted the same registration and renewal fee. LEI Register quoted £5 more for renewal, a 10% increase on its £50 registration price. The median matched difference is £0. That does not mean renewal is always free of price changes.

GlobalLEI's renewal page asks existing customers to log in. We did not turn the crossed-out £85 on its registration card into a renewal quote. GetLEI's GBP display also needs selecting before comparison: the default dollar amount belongs in a different column, not in a pounds ranking.

For the narrower comparison with both explicit VAT-exclusion wording and an included GLEIF fee, LEI Service and LEI Register quote £49–£50 for registration and £49–£55 for renewal. That is only two observations, with medians of £49.50 and £52 respectively. It is useful for comparing those two offers, but too small to describe the wider market.

Multi-year prices mean money paid upfront

A low annual equivalent can come with a much larger first payment. These are the published new-registration package totals, followed by our calculation of the cost per covered year.

The tax and fee qualifications in the first table still apply. Annual equivalents are totals divided by three or five, rounded to the nearest penny. They are not annual instalments. GetLEI values were recorded with GBP selected on 18 September 2026.

GlobalLEI rounds its five-year annual display to £34. Dividing the £169 total gives £33.80. LEI Service's £34 annual equivalent comes from a £170 total. Nearly identical headline figures can therefore represent different payments, even before tax is considered.

These are new-registration packages. An existing customer should use the renewal package instead. For example, LEI Register separately lists £147 for three years of renewal and £215 for five, rather than the £135 and £200 new-registration totals above.

Multi-year service still involves annual maintenance of the LEI record. The provider handles those renewals during the prepaid term. It does not turn the underlying record into something you can ignore for five years. Keep the entity details current and check the next renewal date in LEI Search.

Compare prepaid totals with the right annual payments

For a new company registration, a five-year pay-as-you-go comparison starts with one registration and then four renewals. Multiplying the registration price by five gives the wrong baseline when renewal costs differ.

The following calculation assumes today's annual renewal fees stay unchanged, you need the LEI for all five years and you remain with the same provider. It excludes tax, financing costs, refunds, early cancellation and the value of retaining cash. It is a scenario, not a five-year quote.

We restricted this scenario table to offers that explicitly included the GLEIF fee and supplied both annual prices. RapidLEI's VAT qualification remains unresolved, so these are fee comparisons before any tax adjustment, not final invoice savings.

LEI Register's £200 package is 20% below five purchases at its £50 new-registration price. Against one registration followed by four £55 renewals, the difference is £70, or 25.9%. Both percentages have an arithmetic explanation. They use different baselines.

The same issue appears over three years: £50 plus two £55 renewals is £160, compared with £135 prepaid. The £25 difference is 15.6% of the annual-payment scenario. Our percentage calculator can check the percentage, but the choice of inputs comes first.

Prepayment also brings the spending forward. If you might stop needing an LEI after a year, a five-year package can leave you paying for unused service. Check cancellation and unused-year refund terms before buying the longer package. We did not assume a refund in these calculations.

Other currencies need a separate comparison

We also recorded the public tariffs below. They are not converted into pounds or included in the GBP medians. They are leads for a further comparison, not tested UK checkout quotes: eligibility, billing currency, tax and payment charges still need confirming for the entity concerned.

EQS's renewal is €20 above registration. GS1's is €30 below it, and Bloomberg's full-year renewal tariff is $20 below registration. A rule such as “renewal always costs less” fails even within these few published tariffs.

A currency conversion would require a dated exchange rate and still would not establish what your card provider charges. We have left the currencies intact rather than manufacture a precise-looking cheapest-provider ranking.

Several storefronts can lead to the same issuer

GLEIF distinguishes accredited LEI issuers, also called Local Operating Units, from the businesses helping customers register. An entity can use an issuer authorised for its jurisdiction even if that issuer is based elsewhere. The GLEIF issuer directory is the place to check that authority.

GetLEI, LEI Service and LEI Worldwide disclose relationships with Ubisecure RapidLEI. LEI Register's UK footer lists RapidLEI and Nasdaq CSD as issuer partners. These storefronts can have different prices and service terms without representing wholly separate issuing organisations.

We excluded LEI Certificate UK's offer from the medians because it markets LEI Register's service and displays the same package amounts. Its prose says registration and renewal cost the same, while its separate price cards show £50 and £55. We recorded the cards and flagged the conflict instead of counting a second independent quote.

GlobalLEI UK and NordLEI identify the same operator, Nordic Legal Entity Identifier AB. NordLEI's international site directs UK customers to GlobalLEI, so the UK offer is the one used here. These disclosed connections do not measure service quality or market share.

Method, sample and downloadable results

This is a collection of public prices and our calculations, not a customer survey. The screening log covers 20 storefronts, including international versions and linked brands. It yielded five distinct GBP registration offers for the main advertised-price comparison, four matched GBP renewal observations and the five separate other-currency tariffs shown above.

Some pages had no usable numeric tariff in the material retrieved, some required further customer details, and some represented an offer already counted. The results are a convenience sample, not a census or a statistically representative sample of the UK market. Missing values mean not verified in this collection, not that a provider has no service or public price.

We used providers' own pages, selected the ordinary single-company tier and excluded bulk discounts, optional expedited processing and certificate extras. Publicly displayed registration promotions were retained and labelled. We did not use competitor price claims, search snippets or our older guide as substitutes for current primary tariffs.

The median uses the middle sorted value, or the average of the two middle values for an even sample. A matched difference is renewal minus registration for the same offer and currency. The prepaid annual equivalent is the package total divided by its term. Scenario savings are annual-payment scenario minus prepaid price, divided by the annual-payment scenario for the percentage. Calculations retain the source amounts and round only the displayed results.

Collection began on 17 September and the main GBP sample was rechecked on 18 September 2026. Prices can change after that date.

Before paying for an LEI

For a one-year purchase, LEI Service's £49 fee is £1 below LEI Register's £50 within the explicit VAT-excluded, GLEIF-included pair. Its current renewal is £6 lower. GlobalLEI advertises a lower registration offer, but obtain the renewal price before treating it as the cheaper long-term choice. GetLEI and RapidLEI also need their unresolved tax or fee details checked before an all-in comparison.

For a company expecting five years of use, compare the full prepaid payment, annual renewal fees and cancellation terms. If the need is uncertain, keeping a one-year commitment may be worth more than the advertised discount.

Before placing an order, confirm the final invoice total, who will manage the LEI and what renewal will cost after any prepaid term. If you already have an LEI, use the existing code and follow the renewal or transfer process, rather than buying a duplicate registration.
