Dividend Income Calculator
Estimate gross dividend income from an amount invested and a yield, or from a share count and the dividend paid per share.
Formula and method
From a yield: annual income = investment × (yield ÷ 100).
From shares: annual income = shares × dividend per share; yield = (income ÷ (shares × price)) × 100.
Quarterly and monthly figures are the annual amount divided by four and twelve. The reinvestment table assumes a constant yield and no price change.
Worked example
€10,000 invested in holdings yielding 4% a year.
Annual income = €10,000 × 0.04 = €400, roughly €100 a quarter or €33.33 a month.
Via the share route: 100 shares paying €2 each at a €50 price is €200 of income and a 4% yield.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How is dividend income calculated from a yield?
Multiply the amount invested by the yield. €10,000 at a 4% yield produces €400 of gross dividend income a year.
How do I calculate yield from shares?
Divide the annual dividend per share by the share price and multiply by 100. €2 per share on a €50 price is a 4% yield.
Is the income shown before or after tax?
Before tax. Dividend, withholding and corporation tax depend on where the company and the shareholder are resident, and none of it is applied here.
Are monthly and quarterly figures what I will actually receive?
They are the annual figure divided by twelve and four. Most companies pay quarterly, semi-annually or annually, so the actual timing will differ.
Is the reinvestment projection realistic?
It assumes a constant yield, no share price change and no tax, which no real holding delivers. Treat it as an illustration of compounding, not a forecast.
